New Life

an exhibition of drawings, paintings, and textile art, runs from Tuesday, January 16 to Sunday, March 25, 2018

featuring Mary Guillaume, Aileen Pou, and Nancy Yule

New Life is an open concept of new beginnings, new moments, change, and the beginnings of something different and encouraging. New Life is a reality or a mood or a change, with fresh and forward-looking emotions. Newness in general is refreshing, exciting, and it entices us all to look ahead with enthusiasm and hope.

Exhibition runs from Tuesday, January 16 to Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Opening Reception: Sunday, January 21st, from 2 to 4 pm - with the regular Gallery Opening Reception for the new show 'New Life'

New life, rejuvenation, and rebirth are main themes for Aileen’s art. Winter has just arrived; however, in Chinese tradition, January (in the Lunar calendar) heralds the impending arrival of Spring. Working with Chinese art makes Aileen think about spring and flowers and the coming of Chinese New Year.

Rebirthing Mother Earth is the theme of Nancy Yule’s new work. Nancy explores the concept of the Mother Earth, replanting her one stone at a time. Working with encaustic wax, wire, and fibre, Nancy has created seed pod structures with a small stone as the heart of the seed. Is it too late? Or can we still save Mother Earth by rebirthing her, one small piece at a time?

For Mary Guillaume, the 'newness' as expressed in a delightful change in the weather—from stormy skies to the lovely glow that that brings hope and refreshment—or the newness of a child's discovery of the creative process. They all signify changes that bring joy to our hearts.

    Chain Reaction

an exhibition of assemblage, glass, jewellery, and photography
featuring Carolyn Dix, Christine Gagnon, Ron Hewson & Susan Arness, and Laurie Spieker

Exhibition runs from Tuesday, March 27 to Sunday, May 13, 2018.

Opening reception is Saturday, March 31st, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Like a row of falling dominoes, the thoughts, attitudes, and artistic actions of featured artists Carolyn Dix, Christine Gagnon, Ron Hewson, Susan Arness, and Laurie Spieker culminate in the art of this new show. We hope the exposure and personal interpretation of all that is expressed here will spark brand new chain reactions that sizzle and spread creatively, jumping with positivity, hope, and significance.
