A Dynamic Collective of Local Artists

Candice Leyland

I choose to paint in watercolour because of its portability and simplicity.  These two factors have the most significant influence on my work.  I enjoy plein air painting and urban sketching and try to capture the essence of places.  I am very interested in local heritage landscapes.  I often use a simple line and wash technique, but, of course, I am constantly developing my style and trying new things.
Candice Leyland has been creating art since high school.  She attended the University of Guelph’s Studio Art Program and graduated with a BA in Fine Art and History.  Recently, she started sketching small watercolours in moleskin notebooks as souvenirs of her adventures and travels.  Sharing her sketches on social media encouraged her to take her art seriously and share it with the world.
