Spring is around the corner and UpTown Gallery is thrilled to present, WonderWorld, an exciting exhibition that explores how we interact with our natural environment.   The featured artists for this exhibition are botanical artist and painter, Julie Krahule; potter and wood turner, Gary Mousseau; and encaustic painter, Michelle Salter.

The exhibition opens Thursday, March 21 and continues until Sunday, May 19, 2013.

The opening reception is Sunday, March 24th from 2 to 4 pm.

About the Artists:

Julie Krahule embraces the wonders of nature as she works with natural plant material to create her award-winning botanical art. She is committed to promoting the power of horticultural therapy. As well, she finds inspiration from the enchanting poetry of her uncle, Maironis, interpreting his words with abstract acrylic paintings.

Gary Mousseau makes truly unique, one-of-a-kind sculpture and functional pieces by integrating pottery and custom-crafted wood.  He turns exotic and local wood on a lathe to fit harmoniously with his thrown or hand-built pottery – a perfect marriage.

Michelle Salter's encaustic paintings are inspired by nature and what she sees around her everyday. She loves the challenge of interpreting iconic Canadian landscape in a fresh way. Encaustic is a medium made from beeswax that gives her work both an implied depth and an actual sculptural quality.
